I found psychologist Steven Pinker’s video to be quite interesting. The three main points I took a way from this presentation are the effectiveness of communication, how writing should be simple and concise and lastly to always write with the reader in mind. The reason I feel these 3 points apply to business writing is because this style of writing is usually important information that helps the reader know something or how to do something in a business setting. I currently work in the medical field and the information that we write and relay to others must be accurate because it is vital to patient care. When writing in the medical field or any business setting you must always be clear, correct, and concise. The presentation was very informative to me and gave great tips in becoming a better writer.
